Cuba is the largest and most populated island of the Caribbeans just a few hundreds of kilometers south of the United-States. Its features a rich cultural heritage and a number of interesting destinations. There are many ways to go about your Cuba travel – to help you plan your trip, you’ll find listed below some of the more attractive locations in the country.

City Pleasures

Havana, the capital, is replete with sites of interest. There are the museum and the plaza dedicated to the revolution, plenty of colonial architecture, the rum factory, the many Casa de la Musica for a night of dancing salsa and El Malecon (the promenade) which makes for a pleasant and lively walk in the evening. The previous capital of the country, Baracoa, mainly has to offer its gorgeous beaches and a few atmospheric streets where one can linger in the afternoon. In Santa Clara, the main attractions are the Che Guevara mausoleum and museum – a set of must-see attractions on any trip to Cuba.

Natural Delights

If nature is more your thing, head over to Pinar del Rio where you’ll get to see the beautiful Cuyaguateje River. Traditional houses dot the countryside and the valley of Isabel Maria has enjoyable paths where one can admire the sights. Santiago de Cuba, on the other hand, is a great place for trekking up the La Gran Piedra mountain range. The spectacle at its top is worth every step along the way.

Water lovers should consider taking a guided tour in Trinidad to get to its famous waterfalls or reach Maria la Gorda, one of the lesser developed area of the country, for snorkeling and scuba diving along its great coast. Also of interest is Cayo Levisa where one can check out the several underwater shipwrecks that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
